The next Hearthstone expansion has been announced. MeinMMO reveals what you can expect in the Scholomance Academy and why it will be truly “magical”.
Hearthstone is still recovering a bit from the rocky introduction of Demon Hunters, but has now reached a solid state. However, just a few minutes ago, the developers announced a new expansion and revealed what will happen next in Hearthstone. It’s going to the Scholomance Academy, so it’s about training mages – but it affects all classes!
What is the Scholomance? In World of Warcraft, the Scholomance is a dark place controlled by the undead Scourge. Here, necromancers were trained, and the Cult of the Damned had a significant stronghold. However, Hearthstone approaches this place differently and asks: What would the Scholomance look like in its “glory days”? What if the Scholomance were an academy for magic students of all classes wishing to deepen their knowledge? This scenario is exactly what the expansion revolves around.
What are the new features in Scholomance Academy?
Basically, the Scholomance Academy brings 135 new cards with it and two major innovations. On one hand, there’s the new keyword spellpower, and then there are “Dual Cards”.
What is spellpower? Spellpower is a new keyword found on some cards. When the card is played directly, nothing happens yet. However, when the card’s owner plays their next spell, the described effect takes place – but only once. Accordingly, the spellpower effects are a bit more powerful because they can only be used a single time.
What are Dual Cards? Dual Cards are essentially class cards that are available for two classes each. You can recognize them by their distinctive background – it is divided into the colors of the respective classes. For example, there’s a card that can be used by mages and shamans or another that connects druids and hunters.
The first 14 cards from Scholomance Academy
With the announcement, the first cards of the Scholomance Academy expansion were also revealed. Here you can take a look at the 14 cards.
Among them are also these two legendary cards, Bloodclaw and Shan’do Wildclaw. While Bloodclaw is solely for Warriors and will likely be a popular target for Silence effects, Shan’do is for Druids and Hunters. It can choose whether to buff all Wild Beasts in the deck with +1/+1 or become a copy of a friendly Beast through its Battle Cry. This creates many new, cool combination possibilities.
When does Scholomance Academy release? There is no exact release date yet. The expansion will be presented in more detail over the next few weeks, ultimately revealing all 135 new cards. The highlights will be presented to you promptly on MeinMMO.
