The new game Bloodshore is set to be released on Steam in November. It is an “interactive action movie” where you “control” a character that is in a sort of Real Life Battle Royale. Thematically, this is reminiscent of Hunger Games and the Netflix hit Squid Games.
What kind of game is this? In Bloodshore, streamers, entertainers, and death-row inmates fight against each other for survival. The winner is promised fame and prize money, while the other players will not survive the adventure.
However, you do not actively fight in Bloodshore, but rather experience a film. Real action scenes are shown and you have various decision-making options. Depending on your choices, the course of the film changes.
The game is being developed by Wales Interactive, who have previously created games like “The Complex” and “Five Dates.” Both are games that received positive ratings on Steam – with 78% and 90% positive ratings respectively.
The latest trailer for the game, released on October 13, is embedded here:
An interactive series like Squid Game or Hunger Games
How does the game work exactly? A round is supposed to last about 60 to 90 minutes depending on choices. You will continually make decisions that influence the story being told. The relationship between the characters is also said to play a role in the outcome.
The trailer shows that you always have a limited time for each decision, such as which person you want to save or which one you want to kill.
You can also “lose” the game by making a wrong decision and then being eliminated. There are said to be numerous different endings for the game.
A total of 8 hours of real video material is said to have been recorded for Bloodshore.
Who is the game aimed at? Essentially, Bloodshore is more of a film than a classic Battle Royale. There are no action-packed fights or active aiming with firearms.
The appeal lies much more in the fact that you can make decisions in a film like The Hunger Games or a series like Squid Games.
When will the game be released? Bloodshore is set to be released on November 3 on Steam. There is no price yet.
However, the previous games Five Dates and The Complex were priced at €12.99 at launch.
Do you find the idea of Bloodshore interesting? Or do you think it’s too unexciting to only make decisions instead of shooting yourself?
