In the endgame of New World, much revolves around controlling territories in the open world. Companies of different factions can fight each other for this. However, participating in such a war is not so easy, at least if you do not belong to one of the large companies on the server.
What exactly is the problem? In New World, there are only a limited number of areas that can be controlled by a company. Currently, there are only 11 territories that are highly coveted.
When a war begins, it allows all members of the faction to sign up to participate. However, the final battle for such a territory is only fought in a 50v50 format, so there are only 50 attackers from one faction and 50 defenders from the other faction.
Since the companies want to win the war, usually only certain players are taken: those you know and who join in a voice chat.
However, those who do not belong to such a chosen group often find themselves left out.
So can you not participate in PvP at all? No, besides wars, there are further PvP contents that players can participate in, including:
- Fights for forts in the open world
- Duels against other players
- The Outpost Rush mode, which essentially simulates a modified version of war and is designed for 40v40
However, despite these alternatives, the fights for territories are something special that many want to participate in. Yet, in the current version, not everyone will be able to do this.
The leaders of the company decide who will be taken
How exactly does the selection of players work? If a territory is to be attacked, the enemy faction must first gain enough influence in the area, such as by attacking forts in the area. Once they have enough influence, a war can be declared.
The defending faction could already set a timeframe beforehand during which they can be attacked, such as in the evening starting at 6:00 PM. If the war is declared for the following day at 6:00 PM, attackers and defenders can sign up for the battle.
There is no upper limit on registrations. However, 15 minutes before the start, the first 50 players on the list are summoned. The order of the list can be determined by the leader of the company. Even within the 15 minutes, players can still be invited or removed from the war.

Why is this problematic? A company can theoretically control multiple territories. Those who are part of a large and successful company will then have a good chance of participating in a war. Because typically, their own members are preferred over any random players.
However, with a small company or as a solo player, it will be difficult to participate in the wars. The reddit user Idunaz even fears that this circumstance could lead to frustration and player loss for New World (via reddit).
Other versions of the war or weekly caps as proposed solutions
What could Amazon do about the problems? On reddit, some players have already gathered ideas on how to solve the problem.
The user Pat_the_catdad has two proposed solutions – additional instances of the war or global cooldowns:
I would find it cool if an abundance of participants would create additional instances of this war. Each instance could also be weighted differently in a point system. So if three or four instances of a war take place at once, the attackers could win even if the primary instance has been successfully defended. However, the other three instances would then have to be successfully attacked.
Another possibility would be that anyone who participates in a war receives a global cooldown, so they cannot immediately participate in another war (weekly cooldowns?). This would give hundreds of other players the opportunity to sign up for a war. This element would also create drama over which areas the no-lifers want to defend/attack and which areas the casual players have to fight for.
The user GeloGelo made a similar suggestion regarding the additional instances, where only the strongest instance should decide victory or defeat:
Depending on the gear level, there should be different war classes: low, medium, and endgame. While the low and medium wars will only provide player rewards, only the outcome of the endgame group should determine the winner. This way, everyone will have an experience in the war, and it will balance the war based on gear values.
What do you think about the situation with the wars? Have you been able to participate in one or are you still waiting to be taken along?
Currently, many players are still waiting for the free character transfer, with which they can switch servers and finally possibly play together with their guild. We have summarized all important information for you here:
