The price and release date of PSVR2 is finally known. On one hand, fans are excited about the new hardware, while on the other hand, the high price is being criticized. MeinMMO would like to know from you how you feel about the price.
Sony has finally revealed the key data for PSVR2. We now know the technical features, release date, accessories, and price of the new hardware. However, this price is currently being debated controversially, as the new device comes with a hefty price tag of nearly 600 euros.
What is the new PSVR2? PSVR2 is the new virtual reality hardware for the PS5. And indeed, the technical specs of the PSVR2 are impressive. The set includes, among other things:
- 4K HDR display, enabling gaming at up to 120 FPS
- Eye tracking and inside-out tracking
- Balanced Fresnel lens with a field of view of 110°
- VR2 Sense controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers (known from the DualSense controller)
Sony has directly introduced two different editions for PSVR2 for the release on February 22, 2023:
- The “bare” hardware for 599.99 euros
- PSVR2 bundled with the exclusive title “Horizon Call of the Mountain” for 649.99 euros

What is the controversy surrounding the price? The price for the predecessor model for the PS4 was 399.99 euros. Later, Sony further reduced it to 299.99 euros. This means that the price of PSVR2 has doubled compared to its predecessor.
While the new hardware is powerful, many rightly question whether they are willing to spend even more money on it than on the console itself.
