The development team of Dune: Awakening has announced the date for the upcoming update and reveals what content players can expect. They are particularly excited about a new detail.
What can we expect from the new update? The new update called Chapter 3 is set to release on February 3, 2026. On one hand, the developers aim to focus on a larger and better endgame. On the other hand, they want to make it easier for players to take a break from the MMO and return later.
What comes with the endgame? The developers address specific points that players have wished for, which will be implemented with Chapter 3:
- With Chapter 3, there will be more options in the endgame after reaching Tier 6, all equally rewarding.
- This means more content for the MMO. There will be 10 new locations, each featuring their own boss challenges.
- Additionally, there will be an opportunity to further develop your character through a deeper progression system that has already been established by the Specialization and Augmentation systems.
Furthermore, additional content will be released with Chapter 3. We will learn what these are with the update in a few days.
Developers keep their promise of being able to take longer breaks
What’s coming for casual players? In advance, the developers from Funcom promised that fans who have already logged many hours in the game could soon finally stop playing.
They are already proud of what they have done for casual players, including character transfer and increased inventory space. But in addition, there are supposed to be 2 new improvements that will make it easier for players to take breaks:
- The taxes will be abolished. This will allow players to build and expand their base as much as they want.
- There will be a Return Package for every player. The box will be filled with resources so that after a long absence, they can immediately jump back into the game. This package will be available to every player who has not logged in for 28 days.
How is this being received? Especially with the first feature, the developers hit a sore spot. The taxes have been a major point of contention for many players since the release. With this mechanic, players pay in the currency Solari to the Emperor to maintain the shield and thus their own base.
The larger the base is, the higher the taxes. Some players on Reddit have therefore only built a small base. It’s no wonder that the abolition of taxes is a cause for joy for many players. Therefore, the point “No more taxes is fantastic!” is the top comment on the Reddit forum in response to the content of Chapter 3.
