The community of Helldivers 2 has been waiting for this moment for a long time: The Illuminated are back and stronger than ever. Their goal is Over-Earth. Players now have to give everything to banish the danger once and for all.
What have I missed? Fans have been waiting for days for a larger update to Helldivers 2. While players have been diligently battling against bots and bugs and even managed to hold off the black hole, it has been quiet on the front – a bit too quiet. Fans suspected that Arrowhead was planning something big, and they were right.
A livestream of a Satcom satellite has appeared, along with footage of a mysterious figure walking through the streets of Over-Earth. The Illuminated were up to something, and today the suspicion was confirmed. An alarm from the satellite sounded, and up to 20,000 players tuned into the livestream to see what would happen next.
It turns out: the Singularity was not stopped; it just paused to unleash a massive raid on Over-Earth now. The Illuminated are back and stronger than ever. Now it’s all or nothing.
New update could end the campaign
How serious is the situation? Very serious. The Illuminated have set their sights on Over-Earth. A large fleet is on its way to raid the home planet of humanity. The Helldivers have faced many dangers, but never opponents right at their doorstep.
But the Illuminated are now here, with new enemy types and dangers. If players cannot push back the Illuminated, it could mean the end of the campaign.
What new features are there? You don’t have to face the Illuminated empty-handed. Arrowhead has conjured up a major update, and in this, you can now customize your weapons with attachments. You will have to level up the weapons to unlock the attachments for purchase.
With the attachments, you can customize the magazine, sights, muzzle, and underbarrel. You can even paint the weapons now.
Secondary and melee weapons as well as support weapons are not yet affected by this update – but that might change in the future.
Especially for armor collectors, there is an exciting new feature in the shop. It no longer rotates through, but offers all armors available for purchase immediately.
