A new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD Warzone fixes an annoying bug with weapon models. However, this relatively small patch is larger for players on Xbox One than for others.
What kind of patch is this? A patch for Modern Warfare and Warzone from August 14 aims to fix the “Demon Gun Glitch”. This glitch caused the weapon models to distort so much that it was hardly visible, both as a player and as an opponent.
This was heavily criticized by professionals and players, leading the developers to prioritize a quick fix. This patch is now live on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Additionally, several other bugs are being fixed:
- a bug that could occur when you pressed the “Replay” button
- Bugs with the new winches against campers, which allowed players to pass through closed doors
- the AUG should no longer be invisible in Warzone
- a problem with the map rotation in multiplayer mode
How large is the update? It’s actually just a small patch, but it’s significantly larger on Xbox One than on other platforms. Here, players have to download a hefty 66.3 GB. For comparison:
- The PC version has a 0.88 GB patch for Warzone and a 1.83 GB patch for Warzone + Modern Warfare
- The PS4 version has a 1.2 GB patch
For Xbox, the patch is about 60 times larger than for PS4. The size of CoD is already a problem for players on Xbox and PS4. Therefore, this new update causes frustration among players.
Why is the update on Xbox One 60 times larger
Why is the patch so large? The developers announced in a post on Twitter that the size on Xbox is related to Microsoft’s patch delivery process. There was a problem with that.
This resulted in a larger download, but the total size of the game is not affected. After the patch, the size for Warzone alone is 99.5 GB, and for the full game, it is 183 GB.
Some users on Twitter are still complaining that they do not have the necessary storage space to even start the download. This problem is even reported by users on PS4, who should actually have a smaller download:
Even the tips for reducing the size of CoD on Xbox One and PS4 seem to help only to a limited extent.
Especially since the patch came just before the weekend, players are frustrated that they first have to download a huge update. Some are even demanding compensation for the waiting times and the size.
Other issues in CoD: Although one of the biggest current issues, the “Demon Gun Glitch,” has disappeared, there is still another nasty bug in Warzone. This can cause you to land directly in the gulag right after the start, without a fight, costing you the match.
