Amazon is planning a TV series based on the legendary role-playing series “Fallout”. According to a report from Variety magazine, actor Walton Goggins has now been signed for a key role. Goggins has made a name for himself over the years as an outstanding actor in series before rising to become a Hollywood villain.
What do we know about the series?
- Production for the Fallout series is set to begin in 2022. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner are attached to the project as showrunners and executive producers. Two of the chief creatives from Westworld are also involved: John Nolan is set to direct the first episode.
- Bethesda Softworks is involved in the project, with Todd Howard and Jason Altman serving as additional executive producers.
- Now, Variety magazine has learned that Walton Goggins is the first actor to be signed on.
What roles is Walton Goggins known for? The U.S. actor with the distinctive face and high forehead hails from Alabama and often plays characters representative of the Southern United States.
He made his breakthrough in 2002 with the legendary series “The Shield” about a group of corrupt cops.
That was followed by “Justified”, a series about a trigger-happy U.S. Marshal – Goggins played his childhood friend, Boyd Crowder, who became a gangster boss in a small town and was known to blow things up when in doubt.
From 2012, Hollywood increasingly recognized Goggins as a “villain”: In Tarantino’s Django Unchained he played one of DiCaprio’s chief henchmen, in Tomb Raider he was the antagonist to Lara Croft, and in “Ant Man and the Wasp” he pursued Paul Rudd.
Perhaps his most exciting role in a major film was given to him again by Tarantino: In Hateful Eight, Goggins portrayed a vile racist who was forced to team up with a Black bounty hunter.
What Goggins plays in Fallout: According to early reports, Goggins is said to play a character based on a ghoul. These are the deformed figures from the series that were exposed to radiation.
