Bethesda, the publishers of Doom Eternal, have released a new trailer for the upcoming shooter today. While it shows as much action as usual, it is also unusually packed with story – and people are loving it.
This is shown in the trailer: The trailer begins with a shot of Earth, which has been overrun by demons. It is accompanied by panicked cries for help from people being attacked by the demons.
The image shifts to a spaceship, where the Doom Slayer is waiting for his mission. You will play him later. For almost half of the video, the story of Doom is told – from the siege of Earth to the background of the demons and a kind of “uprising” against humans.
The second half of the video then revolves as usual around action, crazy weapons, and even a really cool sword, with which the Doom Slayer expertly fillets demons. This is reminiscent of the original gameplay trailer from E3 2019.
Story in the Doom trailer – Fans like the variety
This is what players say: The video has already been shared on reddit and there’s also a report about it on Gamestar. The reaction from players is quite unanimous: The trailer is receiving a lot of positive feedback. Especially the story and some details seem to be very well received:

- The user Grendell on Gamestar says: “Oh come on, I think it’s great when there’s a good, well-defined story. If it breaks up the shooting in between, I’m all for more of that.”
- The user Dr3amKe3per on Gamestar writes: “Yay yay yay … finally a rather straightforward game with good entertainment and yes, also the story or lore in the background is exciting. Hopefully they will announce something more soon.”
In fact, this trailer shows a lot of story for the first time for Doom Eternal. Previously, mainly the brutal gameplay or also the new multiplayer mode was introduced.
