The next tank for Overwatch 2 is known and has been introduced. He is so op that he always makes headshots – no matter where he hits.
At BlizzCon, the next big tank hero of Overwatch 2 was introduced – and he is a true powerhouse. The massive Mauga comes with two huge guns (which are each as big as Tracer) and is supposed to offer a tank option that can counter flying enemies like Pharah or Echo. Besides that, he has a little “cheat” because Mauga can make headshots on your entire body – even if he only hits your little toe.
Why does he always make headshots? This is due to his two weapons. Mauga has two huge guns that can be fired simultaneously, but they have a special feature. His left weapon (“Gunny”) sets hit enemies on fire after a few hits. His other weapon (“Cha-Cha”) deals normal damage unless the opposing target is on fire. In that case, all hits are always critical hits – thus headshots.
What else can Mauga do? Aside from this “headshot cheat,” Mauga has some other interesting abilities.
- Berserk: Mauga gains temporary health whenever he deals critical damage.
- Tackle: Mauga charges forward in a straight line. At the end of his charge, he jumps into the air and lands shortly after. Enemies in the target area are knocked back, directly hit targets are momentarily stunned. As long as Mauga is charging, he is immune to all control effects.
- Overdrive: Mauga activates both hearts in his body and grants himself and survivors an aura, giving allies “life steal” – they heal themselves when they deal damage.
- Ultimate – Cage Fight: Mauga creates a cage, binding its center to himself. All enemies in the effective area are chained to Mauga and are trapped with him and other players in this cage. Mauga has unlimited ammunition for the duration of the ultimate.
All healing and damage from outside the cage is absorbed by a barrier.
When will Mauga come? Mauga will only appear in Overwatch 2 in a few weeks, but the developers have temporarily unlocked him in the game. If you want to try the new hero, just start Overwatch 2 and check out the arcade or quick match to see what you can do with the new hero.
