During the Summer Game Fest 2022, the first gameplay of the new survival game Nightingale was showcased, which will be released on Steam. Now another video has been published that goes more in-depth into the Realm Cards and the construction of the open world.
What makes Nightingale so special? The new survival game focuses on PvE and can be played solo or cooperatively. You are meant to explore, craft, and build the world together with other players. Nightingale is set in a Victorian fantasy world, mixing elements from industrialized England with fairies, monsters, and magic.
In the first trailer, you can see cities built by players, crazy monsters, and action-packed battles. MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus immediately compares it to a bolder version of New World.
The highlight of the game is the so-called Realm Cards. With these, you can open portals to new worlds, where you determine what that world should look like. These Realm Cards have now been introduced in more detail.

You determine biomes, resources, and monsters in the worlds
How exactly do the Realm Cards work? During your adventures in Nightingale, you will find rare materials from which you can craft the Realm Cards at workbenches. These cards can then open special portals that lead to new worlds.
Each card contains various details that will affect the new world, such as:
- The biome you will enter. There should be swamps, forests, meadows, deserts, and jungles.
- The types of monsters you will fight against.
- The weather.
- Which resources are most abundant in the new world.
For each portal, multiple cards can be combined, which will lead to unique worlds and motivate players to experiment as much as possible. The new worlds are completely procedurally generated and therefore always have slightly different elements. This ensures constantly new content.
How different are the worlds really? According to the developers, there should be very strong differences. Depending on the combination, the areas can become dangerous, for example, due to strong monsters or a high population of small enemies. However, you can also create calm worlds where you can catch your breath.
The weather and the time of day are said to have a significant impact as well. If you create a world that is completely dark, then your gas lamp is the only light source to move around.

Nightingale is set to launch on Steam and Epic in 2022
When does the game release? Nightingale is set to enter Early Access for PC in 2022. The platforms for this are Steam and Epic Games. However, an exact date is still pending.
