Soon the Puzzle Mode for Hearthstone will be available. We will tell you when it starts and what to expect.
The new Hearthstone expansion “Dr. Boom’s Secret Lab” has been live for a few days and players are busy experimenting with new decks and interesting ideas to defeat enemies in just one turn. However, one mode of the expansion is not available yet: Dr. Boom’s Puzzle Lab.
Starting August 21, this mode will be accessible, and the developers are already discussing how the lab is set up.
4 different Puzzle Modes: There are four different types of puzzles, each with different objectives and requiring different strategies. All puzzles are only one turn long – you only have one chance to arrange the game board in such a way that the challenge is considered complete.
- Death Zone: Players must destroy the opposing hero in this turn, reducing its health points to 0.
- Mirror Image: Your game board must be an exact copy of the opponent’s board. The same minions must face each other, have the same health points and the same buffs.
- Survival: This mode is the exact opposite of “Death Zone”. Players must modify the game board so that they survive the opponent’s next turn for sure.
- Tabula Rasa: In this mode, the game board must be completely cleared of minions. By the end of the turn, there must not be any minion left – neither on your side nor on the opponent’s side.
Reset Button for Relief: If you make a mistake, play the wrong card, or overlook a detail, you do not have to restart the entire “run”. Instead, there is a reset button that resets the game board back to the beginning in a matter of seconds. This way, you can take all the time you need, and mistakes are not a disaster.
In each mode, the puzzles start off easy but become more difficult with each round. The particularly tough final puzzles are against Dr. Boom himself and are likely to present some challenges even for experienced players, as there are more than 100 puzzles to solve.
Developers are struggling. Especially during the internal testing of the puzzles, the developers had a lot of fun. Even the lead mission designer spent almost an hour on one of the puzzles and did not manage to test other puzzles – because he refused to look up the answer or ask others for help.
Starting August 21, next Tuesday, the Puzzle Lab will open.
Will you be playing this Hearthstone mode enthusiastically?
