For a few days now, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has its first raid, Castle Nathria. Many players have checked out the new raid and received a lot of loot. Too much, says Blizzard, and is now nerfing it. The players are not too happy about this.
What will be nerfed? In a Bluepost in the official US forum, community manager Kaivax writes that the amount of loot in the new Castle Nathria will be reduced. Currently, players in a raid with 20 players are receiving an average of five items per boss. Three were planned.
This is a bug that should not occur. A hotfix is expected to be released with the realm restart on December 16, which will lower the loot from the bosses. So you have a few days left to get more loot from the new raid of Season 1 in Shadowlands.
However, only “regular” loot is affected. Special loot that corresponds to your class, such as media or the 48 new legendary memories from Castle Nathria, is not included. These will be treated separately and will not fall under the nerf.
Why is it being nerfed? According to Kaivax, the raid provides too much loot, which leads to unfairness compared to other endgame content. Castle Nathria is thus more valuable to players than Mythic+ dungeons or PvP.
If the bug remains unfixed, raiding on normal and heroic difficulty would have a higher priority than dungeons of comparable difficulty or PvP advancement, according to Kaivax.
Less Loot in the Raid – Bugs Remaining?
This bothers the players: The reactions to the change are neutral to negative. Besides some players not receiving anything despite the increased loot, others believe the change is misdirected.
Wowhead user kaos95 writes: “A better idea would have been to increase the loot in Mythic+. It really doesn’t feel good to go into five dungeons in a row, get three chests, and leave without loot.”
This is in line with the changes in Shadowlands, through which the loot from Mythic+ dungeons has already been reduced. Additionally, bonus rolls have been removed in Shadowlands. Consequently, it happens quite frequently that players complete many dungeons and still receive nothing.
In the official forum, users criticize that this bug is prioritized while, in their view, more important issues are left unaddressed. There is, for example, a bug that prevents progress in the Maw and classes that are considered overly strong, especially in PvP.
Will anything else change? Along with the loot nerf, additional changes are coming on December 16. After Castle Nathria was nerfed just one day after, further nerfs for the raid are coming. Particularly affected is Mists of Tirna Scithe.
In addition, many classes that are lower in the DPS ranking will receive a buff. You can find the patch notes for the hotfix on the official website worldofwarcraft.com in English. The German patch notes are currently still missing.
