Throne and Liberty will soon open its doors, but even before its release, the new MMORPG is encountering problems on Steam and PS5.
What kind of problems are there? In order for everyone to enjoy the new MMORPG Throne and Liberty right at launch, the developers announced a pre-download for 48 hours before the start. This should accordingly start on September 24 at 7:00 PM CEST.
While downloads on PlayStation started promptly at 7:00 PM, PC players were faced with grayed-out download buttons. On Reddit and in the Steam forum for the new game, the first posts from players questioning whether they were the only ones experiencing issues appeared shortly after 7:00 PM. However, it quickly became clear that everyone on Steam was facing the gray buttons.
Have the developers responded? On the official Discord server of the developers, they announced at 8:11 PM that they had looked into the complaints from players regarding the lack of a pre-download for free-to-play players. However, this is actually about the fact that free-to-play players were not initially supposed to have a pre-download.
Thus, this announcement did not refer to the acute problems on Steam. Consequently, players who still did not see a download button were quite confused. It wasn’t until around 8:30 PM that players could download the game. There has been no further message from the developers on this issue.

Event Cancellation Before Thousands of Spectators
What other problems were there? While players were likely still sitting in front of their ongoing downloads, the “Siege the Day” event started at 11:00 PM. The event was primarily meant to showcase the endgame of Throne and Liberty to new players.
Content creators and well-known guilds from North America were invited to show for several hours what the new MMORPG has to offer.
While everything was going well at first, there were problems during the big highlight of the stream. The livestream was supposed to end with the grand siege battle. This only takes place every few weeks in the MMORPG, and only the best guilds are allowed to participate.
During the livestream on Twitch, thousands of people were watching when suddenly the stream went offline. The developers tried multiple times to restart the stream, and were also online for a few minutes, but the problem affected not only the stream itself.
At the same time, the in-game server of Throne and Liberty also went offline. Some fans even claimed that the website went offline as well. This was quite bitter for fans, as many viewers were watching to receive rewards in the form of Twitch Drops.
How did the developers react? The developers decided to cancel the “Siege the Day” event. On their Discord server, they wrote:
Due to network configuration issues with our event environment, we unfortunately will not be able to conduct the remainder of Siege the Day as planned. We are working to resolve these issues and will return tomorrow. Until then, we will close this channel. Thank you again for your support and we will see you soon!
What happens with the Twitch Drops? To ensure that players don’t walk away empty-handed, the developers kept their stream running for another 10 minutes to give players the chance to receive their drops. However, at 5:00 PM local time, it was over.
For some users, this was not enough, as due to the interruptions, not everyone could secure their rewards and the tracking on Twitch also did not seem to function reliably at all times.
Experiencing two technical problems with the new MMORPG in one evening does not bode well. In all forums, players have long been discussing how the release might go. Many believe a release similar to New World is on the horizon, where there were endless queues: New World: Largest surge for a new MMORPG in 2 years – Huge queues
