CCP Games has launched the mobile MMORPG EVE Echoes. This allows you to experience an authentic EVE experience on mobile devices, according to the developers – and you are part of a new EVE from the very beginning.
What is EVE Echoes? The mobile game EVE Echoes is not a 1:1 port of EVE Online, even if most of the mechanics and the general gameplay are very similar.
With your spaceship, you explore a galaxy with more than 8,000 solar systems and try to navigate your way. Be it as a pirate, entrepreneur, or trader.
EVE Echoes does not yet have all the features of its bigger brother. For example, it is not yet possible to fly capital ships and you cannot yet gain dominance over sectors of space. However, the developers assure that all of this is still to come.
EVE Online is considered a phenomenon, a kind of online world where fans can live a second life. However, it has become difficult to get into EVE Online, as the MMORPG has been running since 2003.
With EVE Echoes, you now have the chance to be part of a “new” EVE from the very beginning and perhaps witness the start of a new phenomenon.
A New Start in EVE
Why is it important to be there from the beginning? In EVE Online, you can build a lot. It is possible to manage huge corporations that are significantly involved in the game’s economy.
Players share the space with alliances and there are constantly conflicts and wars as well as massive space battles that can change the power dynamics.
Since it is very difficult for newcomers to mix at the top in EVE Online, EVE Echoes now represents a very good opportunity to be there from the very beginning and see if you can also build something for yourself and compete at the top.
How do you play? EVE Echoes has been available since August 13 as a free-to-play game via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for download.
You simply download the game. Then you create an account and you’re off.
What should be considered at launch? You have the choice to create either an Alpha or an Omega clone as your character. An Alpha clone plays for free. However, it has some limitations.
As an Omega clone, you must pay a monthly fee. According to the Facebook page of the game, this ranges from $4.99 to $14.99. Depending on which one you choose, you can lift several restrictions.
- Basic Omega Clone for $4.99 – You get free access to the market and can learn all skills. Moreover, it is possible to trade freely with other players. Additionally, you receive an extra 5 skill points per minute.
- Standard Omega Clone for $12.99 – You receive an additional 25 skill points per minute.
- Monthly Combo Pack for $14.99 – A mix of Basic and Standard. You get the 5 additional skill points and the extra 25.
How is the game received after launch? Ratings on the Google Play Store are 4.2 out of 5 stars. In the Apple App Store, players gave 4.6 out of 5 points.
It is praised that EVE Echoes really feels and plays like EVE – even if a few features are still missing. There are already enough players, and the possibilities of what you can do in the game are diverse.
Although CCP Games stated that there was a preload and that it went online on August 11, the servers were not supposed to go online until August 13, this apparently did not reach every player. Therefore, there was criticism in the reviews. Players wanted to start right on August 11 but could not. Moreover, EVE Echoes, just like EVE Online, is a very complex game that requires a lot of time and effort to invest. This does not appeal to every mobile gamer.
