The new MMORPG Aion 2 continues to celebrate its great success about 3 weeks after its launch in Asia. Now the developers reveal how well the MMORPG is really doing.
How is Aion 2 doing? While we in the West still have to wait until the second half of 2026 for the release of Aion 2, the new MMORPG is already available in Korea and Taiwan. Players there can already play the title regularly.
On December 5, the developers of Aion 2 spoke with Money Today MTN in an interview and shared some insights about the current success. The title is reported to be generating over 2.5 billion South Korean won daily. That’s about 1.46 million euros per day. A rather large sum, and the player numbers are impressive as well.
Currently, 180,000 players peak daily in Aion 2 on the Korean server, while on the Taiwanese server about 160,000 players play per day at peak times. However, the developers do not reveal the total number of players. According to the interview, the developers estimate annual revenues of 500 to 600 billion won, which translates to 292 to 351 million euros solely from Aion 2.

No Launch Without Problems
What problems exist? Although Aion 2 is a great success for the developers both financially and in terms of player numbers, there are several aspects of the new MMORPG that leave much to be desired. Just shortly after the launch, there was an outcry from players criticizing the new game heavily for its monetization.
The title featured various battle passes and subscription tiers that supposedly cost up to 45,– € monthly. The balancing of classes in the game was initially not where it should be. The developers intervened and alleviated the situation somewhat, though many felt it still wasn’t enough.
Another major problem with Aion 2 is the bots in the game. They have been around since week 1 and attempt to create gold using various methods and sell it. Players are still complaining today on Reddit about the bots and note that there is currently a lack of a simple method to report them.
Aion 2 is a major success for publisher NCSoft and currently enjoys high player numbers and revenues. However, the hoped-for changes and adjustments must now follow the good start, such as finding effective ways to deal with bots to maintain the momentum.
Aion 2 is set to be released in the West in the second half of 2026. Until then, the developers want to make further adjustments. The game is to be tailored for the West, after testing what works well and what doesn’t in Asia.
