With “Mauer der Toten” the next new map for Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is coming soon. As the new trailer has now shown, it brings a popular perk from earlier zombie installments like Black Ops 4 into the game: Mule Kick. However, numerous fans wanted a different one.
What is Mule Kick? It is a perk from the zombie mode of earlier Black Ops installments, which is one of the most popular in the community. It is based on a drink that has an iconic Spanish jingle and could be purchased at vending machines on the maps.
It has been available in all Black Ops installments so far. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is now also set to come to CoD Cold War.
The latest trailer for the upcoming map of CoD Cold War clearly showed that the perk will return with the new map. Here you can watch the trailer:

This is the hint: Those who pay close attention in the first seconds of the trailer will immediately recognize the vending machine. The Mule Kick logo of the drink is clearly visible there.
Here you can see the comparison:
How did the perk work? Anyone who enjoys a cold Mule Kick can carry three primary weapons simultaneously. The effect lasted until you were taken out.
Players can also level up the perk ranks to make it even stronger in later rounds. Such perks can have a significant impact on the gameplay and are therefore always interesting when they are newly introduced.
In a tweet from developer Treyarch, the arrival of Mule Kick was hinted at on July 2:
Many are looking forward to Mule Kick, but where is Double Tap?
What do the players say about the return of Mule Kick? The feedback is rather mixed. Many players have been waiting for another perk for months: Double Tap. This perk has long been speculated in rumors as a possible new addition.
- Perts (via Twitter) – “This must be a joke, there’s no way I waited 5 months to get Mule Kick instead of Double Tap.”
- ryan bekooij (via Twitter) – “The only reason we used Mule Kick was: Extra weapon = Extra ammo. In Cold War, we can buy ammo anywhere, and zombies drop ammo. So there’s no reason to use Mule Kick. Give us Double Tap […].”
Why is Double Tap so interesting? This perk increases among other things the fire rate of players, the damage, and speeds up the animations when placing Claymores. Overall, this perk is a buff package for players and many have been wishing for this package for a long time before CoD Cold War.
However, there are also some players who are looking forward to Mule Kick:
- Adrian: (via Twitter) – “BO4 improved Mule Kick, but there were better perks available and we were limited to 4. Now, in Cold War, I can get as many perks as I want and I can imagine that Mule Kick will be better than ever before.”
- Parsa Koolaji (via Twitter) – “I can’t wait. Mule Kick finally has the chance to be appreciated again.”
- Neirco (via Twitter) – “Let’s hope the tier upgrades are really cool and useful to make Mule Kick a must-have. I’m curious how it will play.”
Some players now speculate that the tier upgrades for Mule Kick may have received some changes to adapt the perk to Cold War. Some even speculate on a combination of Double Tap and Mule Kick that could be included in the five tiers. How the perk will ultimately work remains to be seen.
It is also quite possible that Double Tap will still come in the next update and simply has not been revealed yet. What content is in Season 4 and what else may come has been summarized for you here: CoD Cold War & Warzone: Everything we know about Season 4 – facts, leaks, rumors
When will the new map with Mule Kick be released? The “Mauer der Toten” has no official release date yet. Currently, it is assumed that it could be released with the mid-season update for Season 4 on July 15.
What can you expect on the map? Just like the other maps “Die Maschine” and “Firebase Z”, the new map in the zombie mode offers a large, zombie-infested area where you fight against hordes of undead and a story is told.
