The next chapter of Dead by Daylight has been revealed. The killer “Oni” is coming and is a samurai demon that looks really dark.
For several days now, the developers of Dead by Daylight have been revealing small teasers and hints about the next chapter. It was already clear that the killer will have a connection to the Yamaokas – the Yamaoka estate is a map in the game and Rin Yamaoka is “The Spirit,” one of the killers. The next killer has a connection to this family and is a huge samurai demon. He is “The Oni” and was revealed in the new trailer for the chapter “Cursed Legacy”.
What can be seen in the trailer? The first half of the trailer shows a wild motorcycle ride of a young Asian woman. In the middle of the road, she then dismounts to confront her pursuer. He steps out of the darkness and turns out not to be an ordinary man, but a very large being in samurai armor, before his eyes begin to glow red.
What is in the new chapter? In the last image, the contents of the next chapter are revealed:

- New survivor: Yui Kimura
- New map: Sanctum of Wrath
What are Oni? In the broadest sense, Oni is a general term in Japanese mythology. It includes ghosts and unnatural creatures up to large ogres or simply dark demons or demonic soldiers. The latter seems to be the inspiration for the Oni in Dead by Daylight, who has a rather typical samurai armor with a katana and a powerful sword.
What abilities do killers and survivors have? The abilities of the killer as well as the perks of Oni and Yui are not yet known. However, it can be expected that the PTR with the new patch will go live later this evening. Then we will also learn what the characters can do.
When will the chapter be released? The new chapter “Cursed Legacy” will be released in December. There is no more specific date yet. Usually, a release follows 2-3 weeks after the announcement, provided there are no major balancing issues.
