During the weekend, the beta of Sony’s latest shooter for the PS5 was available. Many players now describe it as a hero shooter with a bit of CoD.
Which game is this about? Concord is a new shooter from Sony that, with its first trailers, strongly reminded of Overwatch, although many at the time also compared it to Guardians of the Galaxy. However, the shooter mainly received quite a lot of mockery for its character design.
This weekend, the first beta took place and managed to excite many players more than the initial trailers did. Yesterday, on July 15, 2024, there were new trailers that mainly refer to the story and crew of Concord. We have included one of them for you here:
When is Concord coming out? Sony’s latest shooter is set to officially launch on August 23, 2024. You can already pre-order the game in two versions via the PS Store or Steam.
What does the game offer? After the first beta, a bit more can now be said about what you can expect from the shooter. Concord can definitely still be described as a hero shooter that recalls titles like Overwatch.
- You choose one of 16 playable characters, taking on the role of a long-range fighter, DPS, or supporter of the team.
- In teams, you face other players in 5v5 battles across various arenas.
- Various game modes are intended to provide variety, including strategic challenges and fast rounds where you need to hunt for trophies.
After the beta, the mood is better
Alongside the action-packed gameplay with quite fluid movements and the various abilities of the characters, Concord is now being compared by some beta testers to Call of Duty in some aspects. For instance, a writer at kotaku.com writes in his preview: “The running, shooting, and map design feels very much like Call of Duty.” He adds that this is meant in a positive sense.
Other sources also repeatedly mention that some aspects of Concord remind them of CoD. However, it seems that the shooter has somewhat recovered after the initial mockery. Anyway, opinions seem to have improved after the beta: Sony’s new shooter disappointed with its trailer, but now the beta is impressing on PS5
