Fortnite: Battle Royale is having issues with the new Mounted Turret. Therefore, it got nerfed after just a few hours. However, there are still many other issues.
What can the new Mounted Turret do? The Turret (Mounted Turret) is a new legendary “trap” in Fortnite. You place the turret like a trap on a ground piece and then get in. With the turret, you can fire without running out of ammo, but eventually, the turret overheats and needs to cool down briefly.
The turret deals about 40 damage per hit and is ideal for defending fortifications. Especially in the new Food Fight mode, the turrets are ubiquitous.
The new turret is way too strong
What is the problem with the turret? The Mounted Turret is a completely new weapon in the game and promotes different tactics. It is nearly impossible to break in direct combat and had to be neutralized through flanking attacks or snipers. In solo mode, this was particularly difficult.
This is what Epic has done: To make the turret somehow destructible, Epic released a hotfix on November 15, 2018. The lightning patch reduced the turret’s hit points from 800 to just 400.
The formerly indestructible turret base was reduced from 5,000 to just 1,000 hit points.
Double turret is the new double shotgun!
There is an even worse bug: The hotfix was supposed to solve the obvious problems with the turret, but there is an even worse issue with the new item. Pro streamer Ninja found out that you can practically shoot indefinitely with the turret.
The continuous fire turret exploit: In a video, Ninja simply places two turrets side by side. As soon as one overheats, he quickly hops over to the second turret and continues firing happily while turret 1 cools down.
When the second turret starts glowing, Ninja simply switches back to the first turret.
Like back in the days with the double pump shotgun: This trick clearly reminds of the infamous double shotgun move that caused a lot of fuss in the early days of Fortnite.
Back then, the long reload time of shotguns was circumvented by quickly switching from one shotgun to another instead of reloading.
Is the next nerf coming soon? Epic prevented this to the dismay of all double pump fans by implementing a delay in weapon switching. It is very likely that such a restriction will come soon for the turrets.
Until then, you should keep a close eye when you see multiple turrets in a row.
