At EGX 2019 in London, the new fantasy MMO RAN: Lost Islands is set to be presented. The trailers leading up to the event already look stunning and make you eager to play.
What is RAN: Lost Islands? The new MMO will be a Battle Royale with a medieval fantasy setting, where 100 players can compete against each other. For your battles, you will have access to nine classes from the three factions:
- Medieval Europe
- Ming Dynasty
- or the Shōgun period from Japan.
The goal of the game is to be the last survivor on the map. To achieve this, you must scavenge for weapons and equipment. You will encounter not only other players but also powerful AI opponents.
RAN: Lost Islands focuses on an action combat system with various weapons that emphasize speed as well as strategy.
Beautiful Graphics, Varied Combat
What is special about the Battle Royale? The game is currently showcasing a gameplay trailer and looks beautiful in it. Both the environments, consisting of forest, snow, and sea landscapes, as well as the attacks and battles are nicely designed and animated.
Additionally, you have different locations and weapons available for combat, including:
- Ships and cannons
- Underwater combat
- Mounted combat
- Ranged attacks from the air using a glider
- Classic ground battles, comparable to the fantasy game Mordhau.
With this variety, every player should find their enjoyment, even though it’s a Battle Royale. If you enjoy the fantasy setting, you might also want to take a look at Ashes of Creation Apocalypse, another recently released Battle Royale.
Who is developing the MMO? RAN: Lost Islands is being developed by the Chinese studio Jolly Roger Game Studio, marking their very first product.
The publisher Zodiac Interactive has at least released a few small but rather unknown games and plans further releases on the Steam platform in the coming months.
When is the Battle Royale scheduled to be released? Further information about the game is to be released at EGX in London, which takes place from November 17 to 20.
A release for PC is still planned for 2019. A version for PS4 will be worked on in the future.
