A new event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds promises valuable parts for the Artian weapons upon completion. However, players who have progressed further in the game may find little use in it. Nevertheless, the quest offers a twist that you should definitely take advantage of, which is anything but obvious.
Which quest is it? It is the quest “King of a faraway sky.” In this, you will hunt a tempered Guardian Rathalos in the ruins of Wyveria and receive materials to craft Artian weapons.
To participate in the quest, you must be Hunter Rank 31 or higher; then you can start the task with Alma under the “Event Quests” section.
The material you receive upon completion is rather on a medium level – players who are already working with higher rarity levels may initially find this quest unexciting.
However, the quest also brings a side effect that makes it truly worthwhile for all players.
“I actually thought that cheaters had joined my quest”
What side effect does the quest have? The quest rewards you primarily when you don’t stick to your actual goal. All other monsters besides the Guardian Rathalos have relatively low health and can be farmed unusually quickly.
This is particularly worthwhile if you need parts from the monsters or if you want to collect a lot of materials for cooking quickly. Besides the Guardian Rathalos, you can hunt the following monsters in this quest:
- Tempered Quematrice
- Tempered Gravios
- Tempered Ajarakan
These monsters have noticeably less health and can be caught or slain in just a few minutes or even seconds, making them a good source for valuable materials.
How is this side effect received? In a thread on Reddit, the community discusses this and celebrates this hidden benefit of the quest:
- lazhink writes: “I actually thought cheaters had answered my question, so I’m glad to hear this. We were right in the middle of Rathalos, and they quickly killed a Gravios, which made me a bit suspicious. Then we killed the Rathalos, and they killed a Quematrice 20 seconds before the end countdown started.”
- andross117 comments: “Yes, I accidentally fought the wrong Rathalos and was surprised when it died in less than a minute.”
- atfricks raves: “I really love that event quests sometimes have such strange hidden quirks.”
- TheGMan-123 explains: “It’s a good quest for players who are still making progress in the game.”
