What is happening right now? In Pokémon GO, the second week of the Ultra Bonus is currently taking place. Trainers are rewarded by having regional Kanto Pokémon hatch from 7-km eggs. To make hatching easier, incubators are now twice as effective. This combination is actually a reason for joy if the gift mechanics in the game didn’t spoil the fun.
What is being criticized? One of the criticisms is the gift limit in Pokémon GO. The 7-km eggs can only be obtained from gifts from friends. However, they are not guaranteed. At most, 20 gifts can be opened per day. Players would like to open more gifts to get more 7-km eggs and have a better chance of getting the desired Pokémon.
Why are players becoming bad friends?
This is the problem: On Reddit , the user MIguy- started a thread where he writes that the event is making players bad friends. And he is one of them.
He describes the problem he sees as follows:
After I cleared my egg slots, it took Monday 15 gifts and Tuesday 14 gifts to fill the egg inventory with 7-km eggs. Just shortly after noon, I had hatched those nine eggs. When I unpacked the last remaining gifts, I received two 7-km eggs from them.
His problem now is that he will not turn any PokéStops for the rest of the day, so he doesn’t receive any 2-km, 5-km, or 10-km eggs that take up space in the egg inventory. This means he won’t receive new gifts from stops that he can then send to his friends. This makes him a “bad friend”.
Possible solutions: As a solution, other players write that they never hatch 9 eggs at the same time and thus avoid this problem. But that is not a permanent solution for many.
Another player writes that he always fills his Pokémon storage slots to the brim so that he doesn’t receive extra eggs. But that would be an uncomfortable way of playing, others describe.
The big wishes for eggs and gifts
This should change: The gift system in Pokémon GO is currently being hotly discussed by trainers. One player says on Reddit: “Honestly, the whole egg system needs to be reworked.”
No limit: One of the big wishes of the players is currently the removal of the gift limit. Since players have no guarantee that an egg comes from a gift, they wish to open more gifts per day. Or guaranteed 7-km eggs from the gifts.
Delete eggs: Another demand is to finally be able to delete eggs. Players want to decide for themselves which egg they want to keep and hatch and which not. Currently, in Pokémon GO, it is not possible to delete eggs. Once they are in the bag, they must be hatched to make space for new eggs.
