The next big update for the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online is set to be the Greymoor expansion. However, the release is slightly delayed due to the Coronavirus and working from home. It is not the first title to be released later because of this.
Update April 28: In another letter to the community, Game Director Matt Firor announced the new official release date:
- Greymoor is set to release on PC/Mac on May 26
- On PS4 and Xbox One, the expansion will arrive on June 9
What happened? In a message to the community, Game Director Matt Firor spoke about the release of the new expansion Greymoor. He informed players that Update 26 and thus Greymoor will be delayed by about a week compared to the original release plan.
Originally, the expansion was supposed to launch on May 18 for PC. This is now expected to be delayed to the week of May 25 to May 30.
The test server, on the other hand, should not be affected by the delay. It will launch as planned on April 20.

Greymoor is delayed, also on console
What is the reason for the delay? The delay of the expansion is attributed to the fact that everything is slightly delayed due to the shift to working from home.
This is the first time that work is being conducted from home in this manner and it is an adjustment. However, everything is reportedly going well. Therefore, the delay should be short.
What about the consoles? On Twitter, some fans of the game asked whether the delay applies only to PC or also to the consoles PS4 and Xbox One.
The developers confirmed that the delay also applies to the consoles:
Not the first delay due to the Coronavirus: With Greymoor, it is not the first and probably will not be the last title affected by a delay.
The major Wastelanders patch for Fallout 76 was also delayed by a few days. The reason for this was the work from home.
The Last of Us Part II, on the other hand, delayed its release for logistical reasons. Currently, it is unknown when the popular title will be released for PS4.
No voice acting for French players
What other restrictions does the Coronavirus bring? German and English players currently only have to expect the release delay. However, for French fans, the expansion will be somewhat more restricted.
At launch, there will be no voice acting available, as there is currently a lockdown in France. Consequently, voice actors cannot continue their work.
Although the texts and subtitles will be available in French, the voice acting will initially remain in English. Currently, there is no information on how long the recordings will be delayed. However, Matt Firor points out that regular recordings typically take about 2-3 months.
By the way, if you want to try ESO for free, you currently have the chance. Until April 13, you can explore Tamriel.
