Warframe is getting a new class with the upcoming update, which will enter the battle as a demon lord.
What kind of class is this? Warframe will receive a new Warframe named Uriel on December 10th, thematically based on devils and demons. Visually, this satanic fighter could also pass as a boss enemy in Diablo.
To fit the devilish theme, Uriel has his own little demons that float by his side and fight for him. As Warframe’s creative director Rebecca Ford revealed in an interview, these demons act independently and have their own gameplay mechanics. While one of them drains the life from enemies, another can impair your opponents’ abilities.
Uriel is not just a kind of companion class. He also brings his own abilities into battle. These abilities are meant to be devilish and literally make your enemies burn in hell. Moreover, he can transform himself into a burning comet and fly through the air – crashing down on enemies.
A glimpse into a hellish past
Why this devilish design? Warframe takes a leap into the past with the upcoming update “The Old Piece”, revisiting a war fought a long time ago.
Rebecca describes the update as a glimpse into the history books, but these history books are our forgotten memories. We will experience a war that our character already fought in the past, which shaped him.
The world design and the story of the update follow a clear narrative thread that addresses the theme of war and hell. Alongside the devilish Warframe Uriel, there will be a matching hellish sound and skybox design, where Warframe’s sci-fi setting meets a dark fantasy setting like in Diablo.
The new Warframe Uriel embodies this leap back into a diabolical and militaristic era with his signature weapon: a bayonet that occupies both your primary weapon and melee weapon slot.
This means that while you fire semi-automatic shots at enemies with the bayonet one moment, you can slash your opponents with a blade attached to the rifle the next.
A novelty for story haters
If you’re not keen on advancing the story of “The Old Piece” and want to jump directly into new or old game modes, the developers have an exciting new feature for you: there will be the option to simply skip the quest line of the expansion. However, the game warns you that in this case, you will encounter spoilers and challenging gameplay meant for players who have completed the story.
