The Mage Tower brings plenty of rewards in World of Warcraft. But especially Druids should be happy – and prepare.
Blizzard has revealed details about the return of the Mage Tower in Patch 9.1.5 and explained how it will unfold in World of Warcraft. Most of it has already been datamined and correctly predicted by data miners – but there are also a few surprises. Especially Druids can rejoice because they are getting a really nice new skin.
What do we know now? Blizzard has published more details about the upcoming Mage Tower revival in a new forum post. According to datamining, it has been proven correct and there is an exclusive set for transmogrification for each class – a recolor of the set from the Tomb of Sargeras.
But there is more. Especially Druid players can be excited because Tank Druids can earn a new Bear Form in the form of a “Fel Werebear” – a demon bear.
Why is the Druid form coming back? It is a new variant of the Druid form that was exclusively available in the Mage Tower back then. Blizzard writes:
During Legion, the Mage Tower provided most specializations with a new appearance variant for their weapon, but players who did not receive this can still collect countless other weapon transmogs in the game.
However, for Guardian Druids, the Mage Tower reward was an alternative bear form with a unique silhouette and animations. There is simply nothing like it in the game. For years, we have heard feedback from Druid players who are frustrated that something so transformative is no longer available, and we agree.
Therefore, during the Timewalking: Legion, Guardian Druids who complete “The Return of the Highlord” will also unlock a new demon variant of the “Werebear” form.
Is there more? Yes. Anyone who completes all 7 Mage Tower challenges on an account will also receive an exclusive mount. It is a flying book from the Kirin Tor. This is one of the mounts that players could vote for a long time ago, but lost out to the Wandering Ancient. The fact that this mount is now also becoming available should please many players.
How difficult will the Mage Tower be? Unlike before, item level will probably not be as decisive this time. As in other Timewalking content, Blizzard will scale character strengths to an appropriate level. The goal here is to allow a “significant difficulty for current players”. Thus, the Mage Tower will likely not be a walk in the park, but also nothing that can just be CoutgearedE by having a high item level.
When is it coming? The Mage Tower and the Timewalking: Legion is part of 9.1.5. There is no exact release date yet, but realistic estimates suggest mid-October. Therefore, you will have to wait 3 to 5 weeks for the new challenges.
How often is the Mage Tower active? The Mage Tower will be active early in the launch of Patch 9.1.5 along with Timewalking: Legion for two weeks straight. Anyone wanting to get as many rewards as possible should prepare for it. Because after the two weeks pass, it will take several months for the tower to become active again.
This is because Timewalking: Legion will fall into the normal rhythm of other Timewalkings and will then only be available for about 7 days every 3 to 4 months. So it’s worth it to have all characters ready right at the start of the event.
Are you looking forward to the Mage Tower and the new rewards? Or do you find “rehashed content” unappealing?
