The currently most desired game on Steam can celebrate another success and climbs to the top of the charts in a not insignificant category.
Which game are we talking about? Black Myth: Wukong is just around the corner for its release. The action RPG from the Chinese studio Game Science is reminiscent of Soulslikes and is based on the famous novel “Journey to the West”.

What has the game achieved? Currently, Black Myth: Wukong is ranked 1 according to steam.db for the most sold games on Steam, ahead of long-time favorites like Counter-Strike 2, PUBG, or the current The First Descendant.
Even the upcoming Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has left Black Myth: Wukong behind. Just like Borderlands 3, which, thanks to a price reduction and the upcoming live-action film, is gaining more attention again.
Most interesting for genre lovers is that Black Myth: Wukong has even surpassed Elden Ring in current sales figures. The game from FromSoftware is often referenced as a comparison.
Is the comparison valid? Indeed, Black Myth: Wukong will take different paths in some aspects. For instance, there is no open world like in Elden Ring, but rather individual levels that are lavishly designed and therefore remind more of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, or Lies of P.
Also, the scope is said to be significantly more manageable. According to the developers, Black Myth: Wukong is expected to provide at least 15 hours of gameplay.
Whether the game can ultimately surpass Elden Ring and other top titles on Steam with its overall sales figures, or whether the current hype will only last a short time, remains to be seen. The release is scheduled for August 20, according to the developers. At the same time, they have a request for fans, which all those should heed who do not want to encounter spoilers.
