Minecraft Dungeons has a release date. This means you will soon be able to experience hack-and-slash adventures with friends – all in the typical Minecraft block graphics.
What do Minecraft fans want? Many have long desired real role-playing elements in Minecraft. While it is already possible to embark on adventures with friends, explore dungeons, and defeat enemies, some things are still missing to make this an RPG.
These include loot, upgrades, and the ability to take on specific roles such as melee or ranged fighters. And this is exactly where Minecraft Dungeons comes into play.
When is Minecraft Dungeons coming out? Microsoft announced that the originally planned release date in April cannot be met because the team is currently working from home due to the Corona crisis.
Minecraft Dungeons will therefore be available in stores on May 26 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. You can choose between the standard version for €19.99 and the Hero Edition for €29.99, which offers two DLCs, a Hero Cape, two skins, and a chicken as a pet.
Hack and Slash with Minecraft aesthetics
This is what Minecraft Dungeons offers: The standalone action RPG from Mojang puts you in the role of adventurers who explore caves, fight monsters, and obtain better loot. Essentially, it is a hack ‘n slash for up to four players.
Minecraft Dungeons is said to take inspiration from genre representatives such as Diablo. You even play from an isometric perspective. This way, you guide your heroes through the caves and use your skills and weapons to defeat the many enemies and collect tons of loot.
There are no classes; your equipment determines whether you are a melee or ranged fighter. It is even possible to enhance the equipment through enchantments. Loot comes in different rarity levels that determine how powerful the items are. Additionally, you will find important artifacts that provide bonuses. Potions replenish your health, and TNT blasts a gap in the hordes of incoming monsters.
During the adventures, you fulfill various missions, such as saving villagers, stopping waves of enemies, solving puzzles, or finding keys to doors.
A Diablo for younger players
What is special about Minecraft Dungeons? Unlike other hack and slays, Minecraft Dungeons incorporates a lot of humor. The game does not take itself too seriously, as can be seen in the story trailer. Additionally, the block graphics known from Minecraft are implemented. This makes Minecraft Dungeons more appealing to younger players and families.
MeinMMO author Irina Moritz has already checked out Minecraft Dungeons at Gamescom last year and based on her gaming experience, she was able to give a conclusion that should provide you with a deeper insight into the action RPG. This way, you can decide whether the hack and slash is a game for you.
