Portal 2 has a 98% positive review rating with over 300,000 ratings, making it the most popular game on Steam. After the new year, a prequel to the game, created by fans for fans, will be released. It expands the story and introduces new characters and mechanics.

Portal 2 gets a fan-made prequel
What kind of prequel is coming now? In Portal: Revolution, players return to Aperture Science. This is a community-created mod that is completely free for all owners of Portal 2 (via Steam).
The mod expands the story of Portal 2 and takes place in the same universe. It is set before the events of Portal 2 and thus after the experiences of Portal. We return as a test subject sent on a mission to finally destroy GLaDOS after her fall.
In addition to a new story and fresh environments, the mod includes the following features:
- ~ 7 new chapters
- 2 new characters
- 3 new test elements
- over 20 new puzzles of all difficulty levels
- new music
Unfortunately, unlike the base game, there will be no multiplayer mode. However, Portal: Revolution comes with an engine that can be used for custom mods. The development team, however, points out that the official engine, Portal 2: Community Edition, is better suited for creating certain mods.
The game is fully voiced in English. Both subtitles and the menu are available in both German and English. Controller players can breathe a sigh of relief, as Portal: Revolution has controller support.
When is Portal: Revolution coming out? The mod is 99% complete, so the release is just around the corner. According to the developer Stefan Heinz, the mod is set to be released on January 5, 2023, for PC via Steam.
