Only one week left until Witch Queen, and Bungie continues to release information about the major new expansion for Destiny 2. This time a nerf has been mentioned that is not only devastating for Titans but also for the most popular class: the Hunters. We will show you what Bungie has planned.
What was released? In a DCP podcast on YouTube, Bungie developers Kevin Yanes, Bungie’s Sandbox Discipline Lead, and Samuel Dunn were interviewed about Destiny 2. They revealed painful details that will affect two classes.
In Witch Queen, Titans and Hunters will receive substantial nerfs. This will be particularly noticeable in PvE.
Hunters will be weakened in PvE
In Destiny 2, the Hunter has gone through a lot. Whether it’s nerfs affecting your Super or abilities or the class-specific Exotics, which have been massively adjusted in just a few days. The Hunter won’t have an easier time in Witch Queen either.
The perk of “Heart of the Pack” from the Mobius Quiver ability will be completely removed. You will not be able to use this ability in Witch Queen. This means bound enemies that are killed afterwards will not spawn Light orbs for your Hunter. Your teammates will also no longer receive a boost in recovery, mobility, and resilience.
The Hunter will also have to forgo the “Combat Provision” ability starting with Witch Queen. It previously allowed Hunters to receive melee ability energy when they dealt damage to enemies with their grenades, as well as grenade energy when they went invisible for allies. This will also weaken the only supportive Exotic of the Hunters, the Omnioculus chest piece, in the future. Hunters will receive grenade energy for their kills in the future through a Void 3.0 fragment.
Who else is affected? The sturdy Titan will also have a tough time. The popular “Bubble”, often used in raids, will now grant you only a 25% damage buff instead of the usual 35%. This pushes the Warlock further into the spotlight regarding who offers the best support.
The announcement was also frustrating as one of the recent TWaB blog posts from Bungie suggested that “The Dawn Shield” would be a stronger alternative. However, the nerf that has now become known was not mentioned there.
Why are these changes coming? The changes will be felt by the Guardians only in Witch Queen. With Void 3.0, you will be able to mix your Supers just like with the Stasis ultimate. Bungie took a closer look at the individual classes and changed them so that the old perks of Void 2.0 do not conflict with the new aspects and fragments of Void 3.0.
What does the community say about this? The community does not understand the change and the Titans are very upset with Bungie’s decision. YouTube user RoachdoggJR stated:
The sheer confidence of this man, when he said: “You can’t get caught in a bubble,” while desperately trying to explain this nerf, he did not realize that by simply saying that word he angered every Titan.
Players realize that the Warlock’s Well will now be the better alternative for endgame content. So the Titan can leave the support to the Warlocks in the future. The Hunters, on the other hand, are being further weakened, but with Void 3.0, aspects and fragments could ensure that the Hunter can still prove himself.
What do you think about the change? Do you find it reasonable or does it annoy you that Bungie has the Hunter in its sights? Let us know what you think.
