In the official forums and on Reddit, there are always wild discussions about Overwatch and the various characters. Some heroes are rarely played, while others feel like they are played constantly. But is there actually a big difference in which heroes are played in “Bronze” compared to Platinum or even Grandmaster?
Jeff Kaplan, the Game Director of Overwatch, has clearly spoken and listed in the official forum which heroes are played in the different ranks and has presented the top 10 since the start of Season 9.

It is interesting to observe that D.Va is strongly represented in all ranks. Between Bronze and Grandmaster, the Korean is either the most popular or the second most popular – essentially found in every match.
It looks different with other tanks, like Winston. In the lower ranks, the scientist is hardly seen, while he appears more frequently in professional matches.
Otherwise, it is not surprising that heroes with a particularly high skill ceiling and necessary, fast reaction times appear more often in the higher ranks. Tracer, Zenyatta, and McCree only start appearing from Platinum onwards.
Also interesting: The heavily mocked Hanzo, whose supposed mains should all be strumming in Bronze, does not appear in this statistic at all.
