In Destiny 2, not only are armor and weapons valuable collectibles, but also shaders and special emblems. Especially the latter is a big topic for many Guardians, as the search for the right emblem can take a long time. When Bungie even hides your desired badge behind events where you have to rely on luck, it causes great annoyance in the community.
What is going on in the community? In Destiny 2, emblems can be earned not only in-game through achievements but also in the Bungie shop as an additional goodie or as a reward from fundraising initiatives. However, the coolest and prettiest emblems are not awarded in-game; they can only be obtained in the Bungie shop or during special events.
One of the most beautiful emblems so far, “Scientia Illuminata,” has caused quite a stir on social media.

The emblem not only looks stylish, but it is also very rare and limited. Guardians can only obtain it by participating in various giveaways on Twitter and Twitch and watching influencers they might not even know or like.
The opinion regarding such events is clear: Guardians would rather spend money to get the emblem than to watch strangers play.
Such events create a black market
In such unofficial events by Bungie, which take place in collaboration with influencers or streamers, great frustration arises. Many players don’t even get the chance to obtain such an emblem because they are either not active on social media or do not have time to follow streams.
However, the annoyance increases significantly when other players emerge victorious from such giveaways and want to sell their rare emblem on the internet for over 600 €; this creates a nasty black market.

The answer from the Guardians is clear, as reddit-user KarakumGamin stated in his post: “I am an avid D2 player. This is my favorite emblem. I would literally pay $40 for it. Please stop being incredibly unfair to most and giving streamers four of them. The community will never have the chance to get one of them. […]”
Many Guardians would rather spend money: KarakumGamin is not the only one; reddit-user Acerinex says: “I am with you. I was really looking forward to this emblem, but I don’t follow influencers just to have a chance at the emblem. I would rather have paid for it.”
The reddit-user MultiVitamin_Scam even goes so far as to claim: “I don’t think Bungie is doing this intentionally, but by giving exclusive gifts to streamers/influencers/content creators, a class feeling is created within the Destiny community. […]”
It becomes clear what the community’s opinion on this topic is. However, it is unclear why Bungie hides such a great emblem behind such requirements. Not every Guardian is very active online and follows many streamers.
Through such events, Guardians might even become so desperate and forced to resort to Ebay to obtain their emblem at exorbitant prices. We recommend you take a piece of advice: rather wait or buy a PS5, you’ll definitely get more out of it.
