Destiny 2 has quite a few bows that many Guardians often like to use. However, the most beautiful bow never really belonged there. In Season 18, Bungie has introduced new options for various exotic weapons that have changed that. Now, the exotic bow “Wishender” is not only elegant and beautiful but also a true monster in combat.
Which bow is it about? In 2018, Bungie released the expansion “Forsaken” and thus brought one of the most beautiful exotic bows into the game – the kinetic bow “Wishender”.
Through an exotic quest in the dungeon “The Broken Throne,” players could collect this unique gem from Sjur Eido. However, only if they could successfully charge and deliver in the multi-stage quest “Dreaming Tokens”.
However, despite its exotic properties, the Wishender bow never really convinced the Guardians. Only a massive exploit, which nearly quadrupled its damage, briefly gave it a dreamlike revival.
Otherwise, players kept the carved, white jewelry piece in their vault or collection, where it gathered dust for almost exactly four years.
Bungie has not forgotten its jewel: Now, almost 4 years after the release of its exotic quest, the Wishender can finally show what it is really capable of. And it’s really strong and without exploit.
Basically, the bow offers the following exotic advantages:
- Exotic Perk “Queen’s Wrath”: When using the sight with a fully drawn bow, fighters behind walls are marked, and arrows pierce shields.
- Broadhead: Penetrating arrow tip that damages the target both on entry and exit. A shot can also penetrate multiple targets.
In Season 18, however, “Wishender” additionally benefits from several new adjustments:
- Thus, Bungie has generally increased the damage of all exotic primary weapons against fighters with red bars in Season 18.
- The number of hits with Wishender against most targets has been increased from 2 to 3 (more hits against vehicles, still 2 against players).
- Additionally, its damage against Champions, Majors, and Minibosses has been increased by 10%.
- The exotic bow also received a permanently integrated, intrinsic anti-barrier perk against Champions.
- And its draw time has been reduced from 828 to 820 milliseconds.
How do the changes affect gameplay? After these changes in Season 18, the bow not only looks beautiful but also performs excellently.
Depending on the difficulty level, Guardians can easily take down Ogres and Cabal Gladiators with red bars and even Screamers with 1 to 2 shots. Enemies with orange or yellow bars can also be solidly eliminated.
The increase in the number of hits from 2 to 3 corresponds to an increase in damage of about 50% against most targets. While this doesn’t quite reach the extent of the former exploit, it does further strengthen the bow.
Due to the intrinsic anti-barrier property, a fully drawn shot or a maximum of 2 shots will break the Champion’s shield.
However, the bow can also be useful with its anti-barrier arrows. It effortlessly pierces annoying shields or immunities, just like any other weapon that has anti-barrier properties or is equipped with the seasonal mod.
Is the bow better, thus the current anti-barrier king? Currently, the exotic linear fusion rifle “Arbalest” is considered the best-in-slot against anti-barrier champions in Destiny 2. The big question is, could the bow be a worthy replacement for this weapon?
Absolutely! Because while the Arbalest is only strong against champions, Wishender also proves to be the currently strongest option against all other enemies. Also, that it doesn’t have to charge for long, unlike the linear fusion rifle, is another advantage.
Thus, the bow belongs to the strongest weapons in the game. Perhaps Wishender is currently the top weapon in Destiny 2.
If you don’t own the bow yet, now is the time to get it. And it’s even a bit easier than it was 4 years ago.
Here’s how to get Wishender in 2022: Fortunately, Bungie hasn’t just put the bow up for sale in the Legacy Kiosk. Instead, the quest for the Exotic has been adapted and changed so that it can be played again. This was necessary because an old target location of the quest has now been removed from the game.
- Interested players should own the Forsaken expansion.
- The exotic quest can be purchased at the quest archive in the Tower. It is located to the left of the Post.
- Additionally, you also get the necessary talismans that were previously obtained through the Wyrm Bay.
Equipped this way, you have everything you need to play through the quest in your inventory in the dungeon “The Broken Throne” up to the statue of Sjur Eido. It stands directly behind the first encounter with the big Ogre.
