The Pokémon World Championship 2024 is currently taking place in Honolulu, Hawaii. Alongside many exciting tournaments, there was also a surprising announcement regarding Pokémon UNITE.
What was the announcement? As part of the Pokémon World Championship 2024, an exciting new feature for UNITE, the Pokémon MOBA (Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS), was announced:
- A totally new game mode called “500-Point Battle” will be launched soon.
The new mode was showcased in a roughly unanimous trailer. But that’s not all. Two teams of renowned Pokémon influencers were also present on site. They were thrown into the deep end and tried out the mode – without knowing about it in advance – on camera.

New Features Bring More Variety
What new features are there? The new game mode is primarily designed to add more variety to the game.
- The game will continue until one team scores 500 points.
- There is no time limit for this.
- You can see how many points each team has throughout the game.
- If a team reaches a certain score, each player can choose a bonus.
Especially the unlockable bonuses, known as “Aeos technology”, are meant to provide more strategic options in the game. You can choose a bonus when your team reaches 0, 50, 100, 200, and 350 points.
The selectable rewards can give you a crucial advantage. You can choose one from 3 randomly offered options each time. So, no round is the same, and a bit of luck is also necessary. Some of these possible bonuses are, for example:
- Receive a large amount of experience instantly (reach level 4)
- You gain a level as soon as an opposing Pokémon is knocked out by you (20 seconds cooldown)
- You level up after successfully scoring points (60 seconds cooldown)
- Points are scored 100% faster in scoring zones
- The amount of carryable points is doubled
When will the new mode be available? The new game mode will be launched in China by the end of this year. Unfortunately, European players will have to wait a bit longer.
- The release is planned for Spring 2025 .
