The online role-playing game Black Desert will turn ten years old this year. The team at Pearl Abyss is celebrating the anniversary with a stylish trailer, in-game events, and an emotional journey into the past.
Although the EU release of Black Desert was on March 3, 2016, the MMORPG from Pearl Abyss had its first launch back on December 17, 2014. So there are only a few months left until the 10th anniversary, and the birthday party has already begun!
How is Black Desert celebrating the anniversary? The developers have released a tribute trailer that looks back at important milestones of the online role-playing game, frequently showing screenshots and clips from the community.
Emotional journey into the past
In addition, Pearl Abyss has enhanced the official website of the game with a nicely staged anniversary appearance that takes you back into the past of the MMORPG. You will be greeted there with the words:
“On December 17, 2014, at 6 AM, our adventure began with four classes in the small village of Olvia. After that, our journey led through the desert region of Valencia and the land of darkness Odyllita, up to the land of morning light.”
The time travel takes you after the release in Korea through the launches in various other countries and for ever new platforms. You can see on an interactive map the regions to which the adventure gradually led you.
After that, some personal memories from the community follow. Glorethen writes, for example: “I met my now-wife in Black Desert a few years ago! We officially married on October 1, 2022, and I want to thank everyone who has given us many happy memories.”

- The three most played classes are the Dark Blade (7.8 percent), the Lahn (5.5 percent), and the Sorceress (5.4 percent).
- About 38 million players are said to have played the Buy2Play MMORPG by now.
- The most valuable item has fetched a price of 121,455,100,830 silver in the auction house.
What’s happening in Black Desert? With the patch on May 29, 2024, the anniversary event has started, which is set to run until June 19. Anyone who logs in multiple times during the event period, defeats monsters, gathers, and fishes can earn various rewards.
