In Star Wars: The Old Republic, a major update with many innovations will be released later this year. This time, the developers are introducing entirely new events, among other things.
What has been announced? As the developers from Broadsword announced in an update post and a livestream on the website swtor.com, the major Update 7.6 for SW:TOR will be released in December this year. Many innovations will come to the game, along with further updates to the graphics.
One of the major innovations is the dynamic events, which are intended to breathe new life into the planets in the game. In addition, the new patch will also introduce fresh cosmetic items, speeders, and companions. There will also be a new free long hairstyle for everyone.
In the video, you can see how the new Star Wars developers are improving the game’s graphics without changing everything:
Dynamic Events and More Story
What is the deal with the dynamic events? The new dynamic events in the game aim to revive the planets from the game a bit. For the first time since the release, various daily events will take place at different intervals that players can complete.
The regular dynamic events are independent of the progress of players and are not directly linked to the main storyline; instead, you may, for example, herd escaped Banthas that are wandering around the spaceport.
In the “hidden chain invasions” events, you will need to stop the forces of Heta Kol while they cause chaos in the galaxy. The dynamic events will initially kick off on the planets Hoth and Tatooine.
What about the story expansion? Update 7.6 will also expand the current story by several sections. The new missions will take you to Hoth and Tatooine and will directly tie in with the story from Update 7.5.
While Update 7.6 is set to be released in December 2024, the story will likely continue only afterwards. As the developers state on their website (via swtor.com), the release is being postponed until the story is fully developed. However, it is still unclear when exactly that will be.
What is the situation with the graphic updates? Since the takeover of the developers from Broadsword, there have been repeated upgrades to the game’s graphics. While the developers initially started small, with individual objects on the space stations, larger steps will follow in the new update.
The planets Tython, Korriban, Hoth, and Ilum will receive improved textures to beautify the game. The focus will be mainly on replacing ground textures and trees. Individual objects like statues on the planets will also be replaced. In addition to the better textures on the planets, there are also the first graphic upgrades for characters.
The species of humans, Chiss, cyborgs, Miraluka, Mirialan, Togruta, Rattatak, and Zabrak will all receive updates to their appearance. While the species will not lose their typical look, they will be presented with slightly more detailed textures.
