In Crowfall, it is primarily about playing campaigns and defeating other players. In the March update, the developers focused on this and brought a revamp of the adventure zones and leaderboards.
What are the campaigns? The world of Crowfall consists of two major contents: The Eternal Kingdom and the campaigns.
Campaigns are time-limited, randomly generated worlds where you can gather materials that will help in expanding the Eternal Kingdom. They are meant to feel like a season of Game of Thrones.
While a campaign is ongoing, the Hunger spreads, eventually consuming the world. However, players can fight for this world and win the campaign as a guild.
The first campaign is already underway and can be entered by all players who have purchased any version of Crowfall.
What’s new in the campaigns? The March update emphasized that there are indeed winners in the campaigns. For this, rankings were introduced.
In these rankings, one can see the exact placement of their guild, but also what contribution they made as individual players.
The points system has also been adjusted. The longer a campaign runs, the more points the guilds earn for conquering outposts. This is meant to increase the tension, especially towards the end of a campaign.
Major overhaul of the worlds
The March update also brought a revamp of the worlds within a campaign.
Division of the individual zones: A campaign consists of 10 worlds. They are divided as follows:
- 3 maps consist of temples of the respective factions
- 1 map is a free city in the center
- 6 maps consist of adventure zones and siege maps
The last six maps are the most exciting, as guilds can fight for them to seize the throne and win the campaign.
New, dynamic maps: The maps in the game have also been adjusted so they now directly indicate who owns an outpost, how many points it grants, and when it can be attacked again.
When will Crowfall finally be released?
Still an Alpha: Crowfall is currently in the final stage of Alpha Patch 5.8 and with Alpha Patch 6.0 the last important features are expected to be introduced into the game.
We don’t yet know what happens exactly after the patch. A release is planned for 2019.
Our author Benedict has already played Crowfall and reported extensively about it:
