Ashes of Creation, the upcoming MMORPG from Intrepid Studios, showcases new gameplay in a nearly 30-minute long video. This time, the mage archetype is introduced, and the world is shown in the dark for the first time.
What is being introduced? In the monthly developer livestream of the upcoming MMORPG Ashes of Creation, the focus this time was on the mage archetype. In nearly 30 minutes, the developers present the archetype and the magic system with plenty of gameplay scenes.
Additionally, players who have been following the MMORPG for some time can take a first look at the world of Ashes of Creation in the dark.
The entire livestream lasted about 97 minutes and offers even more insight than the pure gameplay video. You can watch the livestream on the official site (via ashesofcreation.com).
As an elemental mage, various abilities are available to you
What is behind the mage archetype? In Ashes of Creation, mages, as in some other RPGs, master different elements and can assert themselves in combat. In the video, for example, you can see the mage launching powerful lightning strikes at their opponents or how an electrically charged orb makes its way to the next enemy.
At one point, you can even see how the mage charges their fists electrically and strikes their opponents. Besides the impressive lightning attacks, several fire attacks, such as classic fireballs, can also be seen in the video.
Do the abilities require resources? To cast powerful spells, the mage needs spell charges. These are built up through casting simple spells. Up to ten spell charges should be possible in the game.
You also basically have the choice of whether you want to focus on one element to use it as effectively as possible or whether you want to combine multiple elements and thus rely on synergy effects.
Interestingly, in the magic system of Ashes of Creation, nearly all offensive spells are not only supposed to deal damage but also provide debuffs. These can also be stacked, thus increasing their effectiveness.
These include effects such as slowing, freezing, sleep effects, or even shock states. The effect of electrification reduces protection against magical damage sources.
