The MMORPG A:IR – Ascent Infinite Realm will not be released under this name. But there are more changes. With the new title Elyon, a beta will soon begin in South Korea.
What is changing in the game? The MMORPG, originally called A:IR – Ascent Infinite Realm, comes from the developers of PUBG and TERA under the new name Elyon. However, players will have to adapt to some other changes as well. This includes the combat system.
The original version offered a mix of classic tab-targeting system and action-packed battles. You could target enemies and then use your abilities, similar to how it is in World of Warcraft, but you also had to actively attack and dodge.
The new version is oriented towards MMORPG TERA. The tab-targeting has been removed and you must aim manually. This is intended to make the battles faster and more action-oriented. As a result, the game gives a bit of the impression of a TERA 2.
Almost a new game
What other changes are coming? As the developers announce, they are also scaling back the air battles. These played a major role in A:IR. They are still part of Elyon, but not to the extent they were before.
Additionally, the focus is now more on PvP battles. The competitive aspect should come to the forefront, and competing with other players is intended to become a major pillar of the MMORPG. The conflict between two opposing nations is at the center.
Furthermore, skills and their adaptations will be more prominent. This way, you should be able to develop a unique playstyle.
When will we see Elyon? The closed beta for South Korea starts on April 11. The registration phase for it has already begun. When we will be able to participate is still unclear. However, it was previously mentioned that a beta for the West is planned for 2020.
So it seems that things are slowly moving forward. With a new name, new combat system, new focus on PvP, and skill adaptations, Elyon is indeed heading in a different direction than A:IR, but it seems like we are finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully an imminent release.
