The creators of Helldivers 2 want to involve their players democratically in the rebuilding and restart of a megacity from Over-Earth. However, this measure only proves that many people are particularly attracted to foolish decisions – and they do this with pride.
What names are available to players? On the official Discord server, the developers of Arrowhead Game Studios opened a new channel through which their players can vote for a new name for the “reborn” megacity Remembrance.
For this, the developers provided them with 5 different options:
- “New Remembrance”
- “Everlasting Memory”
- “Peacebeacon’s Bloodlight”
- “Winds of Change of Tides of War”, or
- “Gun”
They may guess three times which of these names is currently leading with over 72% of all votes.

How is the community reacting to the current state of the vote? On Reddit players discuss under a screenshot showing the name “Gun” with 7,258 votes and 72.83% as the leading candidate. However, the comments can hardly be called a discussion, but rather a celebratory meme-fest full of “I’m making my contribution” posts.

Some players note that the developers knew exactly what they were doing with this vote:
- BlackMagister: “I saw the options, and even if the results weren’t visible, it’s obvious that the best meme would win. It was really up to AH [Arrowhead], just as companies no longer allow fans to hold naming contests with their own contributions.”
- novis-eldritch-maxim: “Give people a dumb option, and they will take it.”
Why is Remembrance being renamed? The city of Remembrance was rebuilt as one of 5 megacities after its destruction during the second galactic war.
Now the Ministry of Truth, quite democratically, wants to leave the name for Remembrance to the people. And based on the current results, Over-Earth might soon shine with its brand new megacity Gun.
Helldivers 2 is currently only playable on PC and PS5, but that will change in the near future. Starting August 26, 2025, more soldiers will be able to contribute via Xbox.
