Bungie has been working on its new game “Marathon” for some time, but there hasn’t been much information until now. It looks like the developers of Destiny 2 are about to reveal new details, and an imminent reveal seems more realistic than ever.
What is Marathon? Marathon is said to be Bungie’s new big project, with which they want to enter the gaming market outside of Destiny 2. The game is said to be an extraction shooter – you spawn in a mission, complete an objective, and then vanish with the loot you’ve collected, or you die and lose everything.
However, the development has been marked by many problems: First, the game director was replaced and then it shifted from custom characters to so-called “classes”. Bungie has remained tight-lipped throughout.
How the game plays together or details about the classes are still a mystery, but that could change soon. Suddenly, Bungie and Sony revealed new images of the shooter, and a well-known insider even claims a major event will take place soon.
Sneak Peeks and Insider Info Indicate an Imminent Reveal
What has become known? Bungie and Sony have revealed new clues regarding Marathon on X (formerly Twitter). Both accounts have changed their banner on X to a new green image, fitting for Marathon. Additionally, the official Marathon account shared a video and a new image. The image features three classes – one of which was already known (the one on the left).
Those who have played Destiny 2 might think this features a Warlock, Titan, and Hunter. Bungie has also expanded the Bungie Press Room with new content about Marathon (via press.bungie.com).
Moreover, the news account for Marathon on Twitter has revealed some weapons that could potentially make it into Marathon – they were found with the UESC terminal (via escapewillmakemegod.com). Unfortunately, we cannot verify whether this is a real weapon selection or just published as part of an April Fool’s prank.

What does the insider say? The insider is Jeff Grubb, a well-known face in the gaming industry. For Destiny fans, he is primarily known for revealing sensitive information about Bungie’s development processes – especially when the developers had to cancel various titles back then.
Now, Jeff has spoken up again, but for Marathon. In the latest episode of his podcast “Game Mess Decides” (via youtube.com), the insider claims that Bungie may be planning something big for the upcoming week regarding Marathon. This could likely finally be the reveal that Joe Ziegler, the game director of Marathon, announced.
