1st Place: Gandalf the White
In first place is Gandalf in his second form in Middle-earth. He initially came as “the Grey”, and in this guise, he was not as powerful as Saruman. However, in “The Fellowship”, he fought against the Balrog, which he survived. He did fall into a void, from which he was only sent back because his task to save Middle-earth was not yet fulfilled.
Upon his return, he was significantly strengthened and henceforth called himself “Gandalf the White”. This was especially due to his appearance, which strongly resembled Saruman. Gandalf then demonstrated how powerful he truly is.
He freed King Théoden from Saruman’s influence, led armies, fought with his magic against powerful foes, and had vast knowledge about Middle-earth and its peoples. Hardly any wizard had traveled as much, and hardly any name was known by so many inhabitants of the lands – whether they spoke it with admiration or fear.
Thus, Gandalf the White takes first place in our ranking. Do you agree with this, or would you have ranked the wizards differently? Feel free to let us know in the comments. Gandalf may win against Saruman, but how would it fare against another famous wizard?: In a fight between Gandalf and Dumbledore, there would be a clear winner
