In an interview with Jonatan Blomberg from MovieZine on February 12, 2024, Charlotte Brändström, the director of two episodes of Season 2 of the Amazon series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, talked about the upcoming project.
She revealed what Season 2 aims to do differently than its predecessor.

What can we expect in Season 2? The director made it clear: “What I know and what I can definitely say is that it will be darker, character-driven, and even more edgy.”
She further explained that she had already watched all the new episodes as cuts over Christmas and believes that some very interesting episodes await us viewers.
The director expressed optimism that Season 2 would be good. Additionally, they tried to make it “a bit darker, a bit dirtier, I think. And not in the imagery, but to make it as authentic as possible.”
