In Lord of the Rings Online, a new update ensures that many players can finally recognize the icons and read the texts again, as an important feature comes to the MMORPG.
Lord of the Rings Online is now almost 19 years old, which is why some things do not look as good as in modern MMORPGs. While veterans have fewer issues with this, it causes trouble for new players.
Especially one problem annoyed those who started the MMORPG on a modern monitor: the user interface.
Here you can see the trailer for the new expansion:
Modern Monitors Cause Problems
What is the problem? Anyone who has played Lord of the Rings Online on a high-resolution monitor has had to deal with very small icons and texts. These were not properly scaled to the resolution and particularly caused difficulties in reading on ultra-wide monitors. But the developers have changed that now.
With the latest update for Lord of the Rings Online, a new menu has been added, allowing players to adjust the size of the user interface according to their preferences.
This way, the cursor and all elements can be uniformly adjusted. There is also the option to make only individual elements like the tooltips larger or smaller.
This should please both veterans and new players, as this issue has often been a reason for new players to set the MMORPG aside, as proven by a discussion on Reddit from five years ago.
What else has the update brought? The developers have unlocked several new contents in the MMORPG with the update. They have released three new PvE challenges:
- Ekal-nêbi, the Fallen Palace (Six-player instance)
- Kôth Rau, the Wailing Conclave (Six-player instance)
- The Treasure Caves of Hurum Kâna (Three-player instance)
All new instances are accessible from character level 160, and you also need the expansion “The Kingdoms of Harad” to experience the new contents.
In addition to the new contents, the update also brings a major balance patch for the MMORPG as well as many smaller changes and improvements, including localization.
The new update addresses one of the major problems of the MMORPG and likely attracts some players back to Lord of the Rings Online.
