In Lord of the Rings Online, they celebrate a birthday while looking into an uncertain future.
As reported by MassivelyOP, Lord of the Rings Online celebrated its ninth birthday and chatted with fans during a six-hour live stream.
The next goal on the path to Mount Doom is “Mordor”. There, the heroes are set to venture next. It was probably hinted between the lines that the team is currently working on “Minas Morgul”. However, this was not confirmed.
The fans want to know: Will you get the license again? Or is 2017 the end?
They have completed expansions, and no new classes or races are planned. Lord of the Rings Online will continue to be developed with content updates. That is the plan. They are working on a friendlier vision of Minas Tirith, improving some of the cinematics, and the next raid will include at least 5 bosses.

Fans mainly had one question on their minds: Your license expires in 2017. Will you get it extended? Will we still be able to play Lord of the Rings Online after 2017? Turbine could not or did not want to answer that. Fans have to be content with the statement: “We’ll address that when the time comes.”
In 2014, Turbine’s license for Lord of the Rings was extended again until 2017. Recently, signs have been increasing that HdRO must watch its costs, a promised transfer of the EU servers to Amsterdam was recently canceled. The “known” story of Lord of the Rings Online seems to be approaching an end in 2017 – HdRO is following the books there. However, it has been suggested that, once the Ring has landed in the mountain, they could tell their own stories outside the known narrative.
