The long-lasting Free2Play MMORPG Lord of the Rings Online is receiving the raid “Throne of the Horror Lord” with patch 18.2.
There was a long time of intense discussion at Lord of the Rings Online – “Is there going to be another raid? How many players want that?” It was heatedly discussed in the forums: Is the raid community still large enough? Or are they now only doing things for casual players to get rid of cash shop items? These were accusations that could be heard and read.
Overall, in recent years, there has been a vibe of “Let’s see how long this lasts? Will the license be extended again or is it ending in 2017?” regarding Lord of the Rings Online. The negative comments are piling up, even on our articles about Lord of the Rings Online. The peak of the game, it is often said, was reached with “The Mines of Moria” many years ago, and since then the quality of new game content has been declining.

Patch 18.2. brings raid “Throne of the Horror Lord” to Lord of the Rings Online
Therefore, this is an important sign now that the new raid “Throne of the Horror Lord” is being opened with patch 18.2.

Content designer Ryan Plenk has shared insights in a developer diary, explaining the background to the raid. We are now switching back from the instance cluster model, which has been frequently used since 2012, to this content format that has many fans among the players of Lord of the Rings Online. The diary is also available in German.
It is clear that this is intended to be a classic raid for 12 players. 6 boss fights await the companions.
