Rank 5: Warhammer MMORPG by Jack Emmert

Since July 2023, it has been known that MMORPG veteran Jack Emmert (City of Heroes, City of Villains, Neverwinter) is working with his studio Jackalytic on a new MMORPG for the Warhammer universe, then still for the Chinese company NetEase.

In the meantime, he has left the studio and is working on his own MMO project Ghost (which only made it to 17th place in our survey).
After Greg Street left the Riot Games team in March 2023, there were obvious issues in continuing the previous vision for the LoL MMORPG. A year later, the official confirmation came: it had already been decided some time ago to restart the direction of the project.
Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill, head of Riot Games, cited not being able to differentiate enough from the competition as the reason for the restart. For the reboot, they managed to get industry veteran Fabrice Condominas on board, who has previously served as a producer for BioWare (e.g. Mass Effect 3).
Since then, there has mostly been radio silence, occasionally interrupted by small bits of information – most recently in November 2024, when “Tryndamere” spoke about the high expectations of fans: Riot head with an update on the MMORPG for League of Legends, community jokes about possible release date
