The open beta for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has now ended, and many players are looking forward to the release. However, there are parts of the community that hope the developers will make improvements on certain aspects. In a statement, Infinity Ward has responded to the feedback from testers, but some players feel that it is not enough.
What do the developers say? Infinity Ward, the studio behind Modern Warfare 2, thanks all the testers who played the beta for the new shooter in recent weeks in a blog post.
They discuss several points on which there is still disagreement in the community. The developers appreciate the positive feedback regarding the third-person mode, ground war, and invasion modes, as well as the gunsmith. For other features, they aim to make further improvements.

What does the community say? Parts of the community are angry, some players feel ignored. They complain that while the developers promise to respond to feedback, they ultimately ignore it. They feel that the issues that bother them the most are not addressed by the developers.
A Reddit post (via Reddit.com) by user u/DigitalVeil926 has received 467 upvotes in no time and has been commented on over 300 times. The mood in the comments is predominantly negative.
User u/abkramer comments, for example, that the developers unfortunately do not care about the gameplay feedback from testers. They argue that a beta can save costs on paid testing while still providing enough bug reports and input on the user interface.
User u/akuakud criticizes that most people participating in a beta simply want to have fun. The majority are not interested in giving productive feedback.
User u/Gizmo210688 laments that the developers must surely notice when people repeatedly criticize the same issues. User u/purrc agrees, stating that it is crazy that the same things are criticized on both Reddit and Twitter.
The conflict runs along the lines between casual and hardcore players who are arguing over the general direction of the Call of Duty series. User u/BalizaDeCorsa1991 attempts to mediate. They believe that while hardcore players would enthusiastically provide feedback, they overall make up only a minority. Nevertheless, they hope that the developers will engage deeply with the feedback, regardless of its source.
Too loud, too quiet, too harsh?
These features are at the center of the dispute: Players criticize the audio design of MW2. Some sounds are too loud, others too quiet. Fans believe there is an imbalance here, as the footsteps of opponents are too quiet, while those of team members are too loud. The controversial streamer Dr. Disrespect often complains about the poor sound quality in Call of Duty.
There has also been a lot of feedback regarding the visibility of enemies. While Infinity Ward promises to address this, many fans feel it is not enough. In the past, there were skins in Warzone that made you almost invisible.
Another point of contention are the lobbies and SBMM (skill-based matchmaking). Many players wish for these features to be removed. Currently, lobbies dissolve after a match.
For the next round, you will be paired with new random players in a lobby. Because the lobbies dissolve after each round, it would be nearly impossible to find players with whom you would like to play longer. Our colleague Maik Schneider agrees: One thing frustrates me about Call of Duty matchmaking.

Parts of the community feel ignored
Fans appear so dissatisfied for this reason: It is quite normal for there to be criticism before a major release like CoD: Modern Warfare 2. However, the developers should really reflect on the fact that fans have been expressing the same requests for some time now.
Ultimately, this is also what many fans criticize: Infinity Ward sends out a lot of surveys and invites feedback on Reddit or Twitter. However, they seem to simply ignore feedback from long-time players.
Many fans also side with the developers. They had a lot of fun during the beta and are rather bored with the constant discussion around this or that feature. Such discussions occur with every release of Call of Duty, making it impossible to satisfy every single player.
What do you think about this? Do you miss a feature in Modern Warfare 2? Or can you hardly wait for the game to be finally released? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments!
