The big live ticker from MeinMMO
19:55: There will be no microtransactions, but there will be DLCs, they say at the end. They want to stay true to the franchise. Throughout the summer, Gearbox plans to provide more information. Gearbox will also be at E3 and Gamescom 2019.
With applause from the audience, the stream ends. Now begins the part, where content creators take over like our author Leya.
19:50: The assassin Zero has his big appearance. He is met with applause from the audience. People just love assassins. At the end of the stream, a trailer will also come.

19:48: Now there are 2 players in a co-op mission, who were probably told beforehand: Make it as spectacular as possible and have tactical discussions to make it look completely organic and like team play.
19:47: An Atlas weapon works like a weapon from the movie “The Fifth Element”: Whoever hits with the first shot, hits with all others.
19:45: Many features and NPCs from previous parts can be seen.
19:42: On the bridge of the spaceship, it is possible to leave the Pandora system and truly embark on new worlds. At the beginning of the game, only the system “Promethea” is unlocked.
19:40: Marcus is back as the arms dealer and has a shooting range like in part 2 – Moxxi and her slot machines are also included in Borderlands 3.

19:39: The player has their own room, which they can customize. Here, they can also display weapons.
19:38: Oh, Sanctuary 3 is a spaceship in Borderlands 3 that can take players to new worlds. The spaceship serves as a headquarters and hub. There is also a machine that collects loot that the player lost, because it was somewhere inaccessible.
19:37: The Calypso twins, the villains, are described as the “most arrogant, annoying streamers” one can imagine.

19:34: Pitchford says Borderlands 3 is a much, much bigger Borderlands than all previous ones. The boss fights should feel challenging.
A particularly good feeling: After defeating a boss, you grab their weapon and kill the next one with it.
19:33: So far, the mood in the hall is quite good. It looks like Gearbox is sticking closely to the Borderlands series and only makes minor changes to the model.
For example, there is now the option to automatically reload ammunition at ammo machines with a single button press.
What’s the deal with the “guns with legs”
19:32: Tediore guns are the weapons that do special things when you reload them. In Borderlands 2, you threw them away, and they exploded. Now they have various effects, some of the weapons then walk around and shoot as autonomous weapons at others.
19:30: It looks like Gearbox has thought of something clever so that level 5 and level 27 can play together in one instance.
19:29: The special gimmick of the hero Zane is that he can use two action skills simultaneously.

19:26: A 2nd player with a higher level joins in. The special gimmick here: They get their own loot in the instance. The loot and everything else adjusts to the level of the player. This is meant to ensure that everyone can play together, even if one is further ahead.
19:22: In Borderlands 3, all four heroes will have 3 action skills that they can choose from. Each action skill is tied to a skill tree. This is meant to ensure that the 4 different heroes feel different.

19:21: The stream is now jumping to the propaganda center, where a boss named “Mouthpiece” is on the move.
19:19: Lilith, the siren, is back and is the leader of the Crimson Raiders.
19:18: In Borderlands 3, players can revive NPCs – and NPCs can revive the player.
19:16: The first mini-boss fight is against a guy named Shiv, who swings a huge machete. He is typically introduced with a screen and dies by turning to ash because he is killed with a flamethrower.
Players can immediately pick up and use loot – there’s no “engram” thing in between or anything.

19:14: In the stream, the player laid out an oil puddle and then set it on fire. Pretty cool.
19:12: As is tradition, Claptrap gets kidnapped and a first gunfight breaks out. There’s quite a bit of blood splattering – it’s already said “Borderlands 3 – M for Mature.” Moreover, parts of the environment can apparently be destroyed.
19:10: Borderlands 3 offers alternative fire modes as a new feature. This gets applause when suddenly mini-rockets shoot from a normal weapon. Another highlight discovered. There’s also a nice, small animation of a switch being flipped on the weapon.
19:09: People are giggling about Claptrap, who believes he can sneak like a ninja – but is incredibly loud and just Claptrap overall.
First applause for “players can slide”
19:06: In the stream, Amara, the siren, is being played. She can be set up at a quick change. Before it starts, however, players must first sign a “user agreement”. It seems they are staying true to Borderlands humor.
In the tutorial, players are shown their first moves. There’s already applause because players:
- can slide
- and pull themselves up on things
These were things that were not possible in Borderlands 2, but are now big wishes of the players.

19:04: Without a big intro or trailer, the stream kicks off directly and shows the first images from Borderlands 3. 30 seconds in, Claptrap is already chattering again and giving the game its echo 3.0 device. The echo activates the interface – the first quest is to take over the recruitment center of the cult “Children of Vault”.

19:00: The evening is hosted by Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox, and Paul Sage, the creative director. Pitchford was lightly booed.
18:58: The PR over Twitch has already worked. Borderlands is currently the most viewed game on Twitch and you haven’t seen anything yet. At least half a dozen well-known streamers from Germany have also arrived, including PietSmiet and Lara Loft.

18:54: The expectations before the stream are “The soul of Borderlands 2 – updated for 2019 – with better graphics, better gameplay, a bigger world.” So at least the US presenters on the panel say. They hope that Borderlands 3 offers more worlds and are apparently glad that they are sticking to the “core formula” and not moving towards “Games as a service”.
6:40 PM: The announcement post on Twitter is immediately hijacked. People are collecting signatures for Borderlands 3 to come to Steam and not remain exclusive to the Epic Store. This is the major PC controversy surrounding Borderlands 3.
6:30 PM: A first photo was posted from the “top secret” venue in LA where the event is set to take place.

Here is the schedule:
- At 7 PM German time, the reveal of Borderlands 3 is set to start, in a presentation Gearbox will dive deeper into the game for the first time and present the features and innovations of Borderlands 3.
- At 8 PM, Gearbox will then clear the stage and dozens of streamers and content creators from around the world will be able to explore Borderlands 3 themselves and share their own experiences. Among them is also MeinMMO employee Leya, who is live in Los Angeles to report from the front row on Borderlands 3:
