The latest ranking of “Streamers of the Week” is causing outrage in the Twitch community, especially due to the placement of female streamers who produce content in the category “Pools, Hot Tubs and Beaches“. The opinions on this are being shown to you by MeinMMO.
What kind of list is it? The Twitter account “StreamAwards” is creating a stir with weekly rankings. However, the latest ranking, “Streamers of the Week,” from November 13, 2023, is causing significant controversies in the Twitch community.
The top 5 list of German-speaking female streamers consists of Mellooow_, HoneyPuu, xFibii, Vansessy, and Mahluna. However, many are dissatisfied with this, particularly regarding Mellooow_ and Vansessy.
Twitch as an Advertising Platform for Adult Paid Content
Why is the community upset? The outrage arises because both female streamers have “Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches” listed in the top 3 of their streaming categories (via Twitchtracker for Mellooow_ and Vansessy).
This category predominantly showcases women in bikinis or revealing clothing in pools or hot tubs.
Female streamers are accused of using a business tactic that is also applied by international streamers like Amouranth.
S! for socials
Here, slightly risqué but free content is shown on platforms like Twitter, Instagram, or Twitch, while more explicit content is moved to paid platforms like OnlyFans. Twitch serves merely as an advertising platform.
The “code” for this tactic is a phrase like “S! for Socials”: behind it lies the suggestion to check out OnlyFans.

How are the comments? The Twitch community reacts outraged to this list; numerous negative comments underline the dissatisfaction.
Even the prominent German Twitch streamer MckyTV, who had previously expressed his concerns regarding such streams, is clearly voicing his opinion. In a comment under the Twitter post, he writes:
This list is a disrespect to every woman who sits down day after day for hours and thinks about content. We can do nothing against Twitch, but having these streams at least disappear from the list would be a start.

The unanimous opinion in the community is that such content should not appear in the rankings:

The heated reactions in the community are leading to calls for a revision of the criteria for these rankings. Many demand that female streamers who specialize in sexually suggestive content should be removed from these lists. The goal is to strengthen the recognition of other content creators and to ensure more diversity in the official rankings.
